My Favorite Sport!(:

February18

Out of all the sports in this world the one I enjoy the most is Softball. This coming summer I will be playing on the 14′s team with a few of the same people that I played with last year this will be my 4th year on Kelly’s. I have been playing softball since I was 4. I began playing for a little league team at my YMCA. I think I played there until I was about 7, then I went to City Rec. I played there until I was 10 then I went to Kelly’s. Going from hitting off a tee, to coach pitch, to slow-pitch and then fast-pitch was a big jump! My first year on a fast-pitch team was difficult. We didn’t do so hot. I was suppose to be on he 10′s team that year, but I moved up to the 12′s right away. The second year I was suppose to be on the 12′s and that is where I was. The third year I was supposed to be on the 12′s again, but they moved me up to the 14′s because they thought that I was good enough for the challenge and they could use my skill on that team . (words of my coach) This coming year I am suppose to be on the 14′s and that is where I will be. We just started indoor practices last week and we have about 20 people right now…BIG TEAM! So they are thinking about splitting the teams into 2. Each team will have 10 girls. They are thinking of splitting the teams by skill and age, and because I am one of the youngest players I will be on the lower team. That is going to be really sad if I am because it won’t be a challenge and it will be no fun for me. It will probably be more fun for everyone else on my team though because they will have someone good on their team. (no offense to anyone on that team) I hope to get put on the “A” team, but we will see what happens. This summer I hope to develop my batting skills. Also this summer the first baseman third baseman and pitcher will all be having to wear masks. Third baseman means me. I have worn a mask before they are a little uncomfortable, but you get used to them. They save you from a lot of broken noses and pain!(: We will be playing up close so it is probably a good thing to be forced to wear masks. Broken noses hurt! I guess we will have to wait and see how this summer goes. Hopefully I don’t break anymore bones this year! I have broken my fingers multiple times and I have a fractured jaw from a ball rolling up my arm and hitting me in the jaw bone. That was a horrible game. This year is going to bring many many new experiences to all of us! :D

Summer here we come!(:

February10

Summer might seem like it is soooooo far away, but I am so looking forward to this coming summer, I am waiting for family trips, hanging out with friends, and most of all softball and the traveling associated with it. I am going to miss last summer’s softball team though, because we had some good times together, but I get to be with the team from my first and second year of softball. This will be the team that I went to state softball with and we placed fourth out of twenty-eight teams. We had a tough beginning of the season and we ended up doing great in the end. This last summer we didn’t do so hot either. We had out ups and downs, but we had fun with it all. Most of all I am going to miss Whitney, she was just like me except a few years older. Whitney and I are super close now. We had one fight in the middle of the softball season and we didn’t really talk much, but we overcame that and became super good friends. I loved having Whitney there for support when I was down. Nicole was also another one of the close friends on the team, she was there for me when I was hurt she would help me get through my pain and confusion of the game. I won’t be leaving Nicole this year!

Last year we didn’t have to  qualify for state, we had an automatic guarantee. For some people that would be a good thing, but in my personal opinion I think that we didn’t deserve to go to state. We had a tough year this year. We had a whole new team most everyone had had experience before, but it was experience with different people. So we didn’t know there strengths or weaknesses. We always had troubles when we would play West Point, West Point has an amazing team and they know what they are doing. One game we were playing them in West Point on their home fields and I was playing 3rd base (go figure) and I dove for a ball, I nicked the ball and it bounced into Jordynn, are short-stops, glove. She threw to first and got the out. Everyone was running into the dug-out for us to begin batting and I was laying there on the field. Whitney was playing Center Field and Nicole was playing Left Field, they ran to me and asked if I was alright. They helped me up and my face was covered in dirt and blood! There were 3 batters before I was supposed to bat, I ran to the bathroom washed off my face and ran back out to the field, the parents were all over me giving me medicine and band-aids to make sure that I could keep playing. The 3 people before me all struck out so I didn’t have to bat yet. My coach asked me if I would be good to go back out on the field and I said yes, we got 3 outs.. One, Two, Three! As west point was warming up I ran back out by the parents got more band-aids on and went and hit, I felt as if I took all my anger and pain out on that ball. I hit a double and stole the rest of the way to score. We ended up losing that game by 1, but it was a great game. As we were going home my mom and I stopped at Dairy Queen to get ice cream, I walked in and the Dairy Queen staff looked surprised! My lip was all swelled up and my face was just  completely  messed up! We got ice cream, my mom got french fries, (I tried eating those and that didn’t work so well for me considering inside my lip was all cut up, bloody, and swelled. It wasn’t the greatest to eat anything for the nexts few days…Maybe 5-6 days, but i survived!) and a bag of ice and we left. My face hurt so bad and I couldn’t feel anything for a long time! I did feel pretty mean at my next softball game though and I am pretty sure lots of people were a little scared of me too. I played through the pain and played pretty well!(:

The entire summer was rainy and we had lots of games we didn’t get to play that year, it was pretty sad. At the end of the year one of the games we had to reschedule was a game against West Point, we played it in Norfolk on our home fields. It was a close game and all of us were nervous for our last game of the season. Both West Point and us were competitive that game. The ending score was 7-6! We won! That was a great feeling. We beat West Point the first time this last season our very last game. In my opinion thats a great way to end the season! Now that last season is over we are beginning a new season, with new people, new coaches, and a fresh start. Softball conditioning starts today!(: I’m ready for this year to start! It will be a challenge, but I am sure my teammates and I will make it through. We will all have our ups and downs, but were always there for everyone and we all know that! I am going to miss last years team, but so is everyone else! We will survive and just pay attention to this year! Here we go Kelly’s!!(:

“Bieber Fever”

February10

With Justin Bieber’s new movie “Never Say Never” out and in theaters, Justin Bieber fans go crazy. Fans in homemade T-shirts, homemade headbands, and homemade sweats line up outside of the Plaza hours before the first showing of his movie hoping to see Justin. Unfortunately they didn’t get that chance, but they did get to see his new movie. It is more of a 3-d concert! His movie starts out as him in a small town in Canada being a normal child, it progresses and moves into how he became famous and what he has went through. His movie is filled with home videos, behind the scenes , and much much more! Bieber fans who claim to be his number one fan our calling themselves “Bieliebers” and they make a big part of this movie. In some parts they are seen screaming and singing along with him to his songs, some parts you see fans crying tears of joy just because they got to see Bieber! As the night started Bieber said “I am so happy I have such amazing fans, tonight isn’t even about me. It is about sharing the message that anything is possible.”

A day at school!

February4

School at the NJHS begins at 8:05am, the first bell rings at 7:50am then the second bell at 8:00am and the final bell rings at 8:05am. My ride to school is my dad, we leave at about 7:30am because we have to drop my brother, Brian, off at the NMS then we have to go across town to drop me off at school. Travis gets dropped off last. Each subject is around 50-52 minutes, sometimes it feels way longer and sometimes it feels way shorter! Some of the choices of classes are Challenge, Industrial Technology, Digital Media, French, Spanish, and many more. There are a lot of after school activities. There is football and volleyball in the summer, basketball and wrestling in the winter, and track in the spring. I do enjoy school at times!

All about Haley!!(:

January7

My name is Haley, I am 13 years old and I am an 8th grade student at NJHS in Nebraska. I enjoy school at times when we are doing fun things in classes and other times I absolutely am not a big fan of school at all. I love going to school to see my friends, but the homework isn’t the greatest! My favorite classes in school would probably have to be science and p.e.. I am a big fan of sports! I love being competitive in my classes. I love trying to get the best grades and being first at everything. I do think a lot of myself sometimes, but I guess that is why people love me. I am also a very random person!

My friends and family are my life! I could never live without my family or friends. My family has always been there for me whenever I needed anything! My friends are always there for me too. Whenever I have a school problem or friend problems, I can always count on my friends to be there for me and help me all the way through it until it is in my past. I am very close to my friends. One of best friends, Abby, has always been there for me and I know that she cares about me with all her heart! She is one of the greatest friends that I could ever find! I love sports! I am a very competitive person. I always have to be on top of everything. I hate sitting out of a game, but I enjoy being there to cheer on my friends too! I love playing 3rd base in softball. People always say that I am beast at 3rd. I like playing center field too. My favorite part of the game is the competition. My brothers are both younger than me and their names are Brian and Travis! Brian is a little trouble maker and Travis is exactly opposite! My family and friends make my life!softball
